Name and title of administrative contact: Dr. Francesco Vespe, Responsible of ASI-CGS geodesy activities Mailing address: Centro di Geodesia Spaziale, C.da Terlecchia, 75100 Matera, Italy Phone: +39 0835 377238 Fax: +39 0835 334951 E-mail address: vespe@asi.it; Bianco@asi.it Web address: http://geodaf.mt.asi.it If applying as a Special Analysis Center, describe the special type(s) of analysis you will perform. If applying as a Global Analysis Center, describe the global analysis you will perform. Indicate your specific analysis interests and describe how you select the data you analyze. We will perform global analysis for the maintenance of TRF, CRF and EOP routinely using all the geodetic VLBI databases. Analysis of the EUROPE campaign will be carried out regularly but without time schedule. Our specific analysis interests are regional ad global geodynamics, comparison ad combination of results from other space geodetic techniques, GPS ad SLR, performed at the CGS. Describe the computer hardware configuration and the software package(s) you use for analysis. HP-UX 720, CALC/f-SOLVE. Internet connection type or bit rate: 256 Kb/s Data storage capacity: 9 GB on-line, DAT and CDROM for data archiving. Describe any planned facility upgrades. None Number of full-time-equivalent personnel assigned to analysis center functions: 1. Indicate which data center(s) you use: CDDIS, BONN. Indicate which of the following IVS Analysis Center functions you will perform and explain briefly how you will perform them: Provide timely feedback to stations No Create high quality products and perform timely archiving and distribution No Place final results (TRF, CRF, EOP, and others) in IVS Data Centers Yes Perform software development and documentation No Compare products No Adhere to IERS Conventions Yes Attach a list of personnel (names and titles) whom you designate as IVS Associate Members through their affiliation with your analysis center. Dr. Giuseppe Bianco, Responsible for Centro di Geodesia Spaziale of ASI Dr. Francesco Vespe, Responsible for ASI-CGS geodesy activities, Centro di Geodesia Spaziale, ASI. Dr. Roberto Lanotte, geodynamic scientist, Centro di Geodesia Spaziale, Telespazio SpA. Dr. Cecilia Sciarretta,Responsible for scientific activities, Centro di Geodesia Spaziale, Telespazio SpA. Please provide any other information that you feel will be helpful in demonstrating your analysis center's capabilities to participate in the IVS. If you proposed to the IERS in 1995/6 as an analysis center and wish to have that proposal carry over to the IVS, please make such a statement in this proposal. The CGS is involved in data processing of SLR, GPS and VLBI techniques. For SLR, CGS contributes regularly to IERS with its global yearly solutions (since 1996) and with the monthly EOPs for the B-Bulletin (since April 1997). Besides, it has submitted the application to be a Special Analysis Centre for ILRS, providing, among the others, time series of geopotential coefficients from a multiple satellite analysis. CGS contributes to EUREF/IGS with the weekly analysis of a regional european GPS network, involving the Italian sites managed by ASI (Italian GPS Fiducial Network). The VLBI data analysis -started in 1990- has been mainly devoted to the analysis of the EUROPE campaign. These results have been extensively compared to those from our SLR and GPS solutions for co-located sites. Also global geodetic VLBI solutions have been carried out and compared to SLR global solutions and to ITRF to verify the consistency of the different reference systems, in terms of rototranslations/scale parameters, of empirical eulerian poles, where possible, and in terms of Fourier coefficients for the EOPs. A global VLBI solution has been also performed to measure the relativistic parameter as accurately as possible in cooperation with the Universities of Bari and Bologna. CGS proposed to the IERS in 1995/6 as a Scientific Analysis Center and wishes to have that proposal carry over to the IVS. Your signature on this form indicates your agreement to participate in the IVS as an Analysis Center and to work closely with the IVS Analysis Coordinator. If this is a new proposal (i.e. not carried over from IERS) your signature commits your organization to participate in the IVS.
