IVS: Analysis Center Response ----------------------------- (Continuation of an IERS VLBI Analysis Center) Analysis Center name: Observatoire de Paris (OPA) Type of analysis center: Global Parent/Funding organization: Observatoire de Paris DANOF/CNRS URA 1125 61 Avenue de l'Observatoire 75014 Paris, France Primary scientific/technical contact: Dr Anne-Marie Gontier Phone: 33 1 40 51 22 30 Fax: 33 1 40 51 22 91 E-mail address: gontier@obspm.fr Administrative contact: Dr Martine Feissel Phone: 33 1 40 51 20 15 Fax: 33 1 40 51 22 91 E-mail address: feissel@obspm.fr Characteristics of the analyses ------------------------------- o Analyses are performed using the Paris Observatory-developed software GLORIA (GLObal Radio Interferometry Analysis). The package includes a number of models, including those recommended in the IERS Conventions (1996). o The solve segment of the software uses the SRIFT algorithm. o The input data are the final VLBI database files and SINEX files (delay, delay rate), collected automatically from an IVS Data Center, preferably the Paris Observatory proposed one (see the proposal by N. Essaifi et al.). o The complete observation/results data base is managed under Oracle system. Hardware configuration ---------------------- Computer: HP735 under Unix Internet connection type: FTP at 2 Mb/s Data storage capacity: 12 Gb Planned facility upgrades: HP C200 in early 1999 Number of full-time-equivalent personnel ---------------------------------------- assigned to analysis center functions: 2.5 Data center(s) to be used: -------------------------- 1) Paris Observatory (when established) 2) GSFC Proposed tasks to be performed ------------------------------ o Perform weekly operational calculations for the Earth's orientation (24h sessions and intensives) and make the results available to users. o Perform multi-week operational calculations for the terrestrial frame and make the results available to interested partners. o Perform global, multi-year analyses. o Participate in multi-technique combination projects. o Perform software development and produce documentation. Participate in the Analysis Coordinator projects. o Place final results (TRF, CRF, EOP, and others) in IVS Data Centers. o Provide feedback about station performance. Proposed IVS Associate Members (all at Paris Observatory) ------------------------------ Ms Anne-Marie Gontier Dr Ms Martine Feissel Dr Ms Najat Essaifi Ing Ms Mireille Bougeard Prof Mr Daniel Gambis Dr Analysis center's capabilities to participate in the IVS -------------------------------------------------------- The GLORIA modelling was compared in detail with that of MODEST (C. Jacobs and A.-M. Gontier, 1996). The two models agree within 1 ps on delays and 1 fs/s on delay rates. We have produced in 1992-94 good quality determinations of UT1 from the daily intensive sessions. The software was an earlier version of GLORIA. We proposed to the IERS in 1995/6 as an analysis center and wish to have that proposal carry over to the IVS. We agree to participate in the IVS as an Analysis Center and to work closely with the IVS Analysis Coordinator. Signatures: Dr A.-M. Gontier Dr M. Feissel Dr D.
