Ad-Hoc Meeting on Planning for Mark 5 Operations and Transition to Mark 5B

We are organizing an ad-hoc meeting to be held during the IVS General Meeting, to discuss several topics related to the Mark 5 recording system. We particularly invite representatives of observing stations and correlators to participate.

The meeting will be held in the evening on Wednesday, February 11, following the end of the oral session at 6 p.m. The meeting will be in the same room as the General Meeting and will start about 6:30 p.m.

We have identified two main areas in which current development efforts could benefit substantially from a discussion among representatives of Mark 5 users. A brief list of topics for each follows. Suggestions for additional discussion areas and topics are welcome.
Mark 5B --
   Planned specifications for Mark 5B.
Advantages of Mark 5B over 5A, for various station situations.
   Schedule for completion of development.
Plans of IVS stations and correlators for upgrading to Mark 5B.
Mark 5 Disk Module Management --
NRAO upgrade to the Track software: specifications and status.
   Requirements for manual entries.
   Content of "extended VSN label".
Optimal scheme for production and application of labels.

Please contact both the undersigned with questions, comments, or suggestions about this meeting.
