Instructions for Completing and Submitting IVS Configuration Files ================================================================== 990622 NRV First draft version 990713 nrv Add Himwich's name. 010406 weh changed update instructions All IVS components are asked to fill out a configuration form that provides detailed information about their station, operation center, correlator, data center, analysis center, or technology development center. Template files currently available are: File name Component type Contact for questions ns-config.txt Network Stations Network Coordinator, Ed Himwich (ed.himwich@nasa.gov) Instructions: 1. Download. Download the blank ascii form in the appropriate configuration file for your component type. 2. Fill out. Fill in the information. If you have questions about what to include in any part of the form please contact the person listed above or the Coordinating Center (ivscc@ivscc.gsfc.nasa.gov). 3. E-mail the form. When you have completed the form, e-mail it to the Coordinating Center ivscc@lists.nasa.gov. The CC will put the file on the Web server via the Network Station list https://ivscc.gsfc.nasa.gov/about/org/components/ns-list.html A link to the configuration file is provided in the column with the 8-letter name. 4. Changes. When you have a significant change in your component's configuration, please download the current version, add the changes, and e-mail the revised form to ivscc@ivscc.gsfc.nasa.gov. We want to keep all information, including old information, in one file. In order to do this in a standardized way please do the following: 1) In Section 0 add lines to show the date of the update and list the sections modified. "Prepared by" should indicate who prepared the update, "Date of update" should be the date of the update. The "Report type" should be "update". The "Updated sections" should list the numbers of the sections that you changed in this update. Here is the blank section 0: 0. Form Prepared by (full name) : Date prepared : yyyy-mmm-dd Report type : new Prepared by (full name) : Date of update : yyyy-mmm-dd Report type : update Updated sections : (list updated section numbers) (repeat the above 4 lines for each update) 2) For any numbered section (major section 2., subsection 2.1, sub-subsection 2.1.1, etc.) in the form that is changed, please include another complete instance of the numbered section you are updating. Insert the new section immediately before the previous corresponding section. Thus sections will be shown in reverse chronological order, i.e., most recent first. In the new numbered section's title, please include the date of the modification and the starting date that it is valid for after the title. Please use the phrasing and format in following example as a guide: 2.1 Site location information, Updated April 6, 2001, Valid beginning April 1, 2001 For sections where multiple instances are allowed and you need to delete one, insert a title line before the most recent one with the update date and date after which it is no longer used. For example: 6.5.1 Up/down converters, Updated April 6, 2001, Not used beginning April 1, 20001 Please do not re-number sections or physically removed them. However if things get very complicated you may at some point wish to completely rework the larger section that the changes are part of. In that case insert a revised version for the larger section as already described. 5. We will eventually have web-based forms for each section of the configuration file. You will be able to fill out the form and submit it instead of working on the ASCII file.
