Observing Program
Observing Tasks — Download Auxiliary Data Files
This section describes several ways of downloading files that support operations
such as schedule and notes files. These operations-related files are called auxiliary files
and can be downloaded from one of the three primary Data
Centers. Links to the respective anonymous ftp areas are listed on the IVS
Data page. This page outlines three procedures for downloading the schedule and notes files
on the basis of the R1 session IVS-R1216:
- Using a web browser:
- Start on the IVS home page
- On the main navigation bar select Data&Products
- On the navigation sidebar select Data
- Select Auxiliary Files for one of the three Data Centers in the body of the Data page; a separate
ftp window will be spawned
- Select the year for the experiment (here: 2006)
- Select the session name (here: r1216)
- Download the schedule (r1216.skd) and notes (r1216.txt) files
- Using ftp with a web browser:
- In your web browser enter the ftp address for Auxiliary Data of your preferred IVS Data Center:
CDDIS,
BKG, or
OPAR
(you may want to add this address to your browser favorites)
- Select the year for the experiment (here: 2006)
- Select the session name (here: r1216)
- Download the schedule (r1216.skd) and notes (r1216.txt) files
- Using ftp in a terminal window:
- ftp to one of the three primary Data Centers:
ftp cddis.gsfc.nasa.gov or
ftp ivs.bkg.bund.de or
ftp ivsopar.obspm.fr
- Enter log in information:
Name: anonymous or ftp
Password: <your email address>
- Change to the directory containing the schedule and notes files:
cd pub/vlbi/ivsdata/aux/2006/r1216
- Download the schedule and notes files:
get r1216.skd
get r1216.txt
- Terminate the ftp connection:
quit
All download procedures make use of the anonymous ftp facility, which does not require
the usage of a real password. Identification is accomplished through your email address
that only needs to be provided explicitly in the third procedure.
